MONDAY NIGHT STAYS HOT FOR THE WB WITH 67% GROWTH YEAR TO YEAR IN ADULTS 18-34 & 47% GROWTH IN ADULTS 18-49

SWEEPS TO DATE AFTER 19 DAYS THE WB SCORES GROWTH IN EVERY ADULT DEMO INCLUDING 12-34,18-34, 18-49, HOUSEHOLDS & VIEWERS WHILE ABC, NBC, FOX, DOWN NOV. TO NOV.

BURBANK, CA (November 21, 2000) - The WB Network continued its torrid November pace with another outstanding night last night with 7TH HEAVEN & ROSWELL scoring overall 67% ratings increases year to year in adults 18-34 and 47% increases in adults 18-49. With Monday in the book, The WB continues to be the growth story in all of television with 28% & 25% growth among adults 18-34 & 18-49 respectively for the sweep.

Those gains are contrasted by continued year to year losses by ABC, Fox and CBS in all adult demos. NBC shows a slight gain of 4% & 6% in 18-34 & 18-49 adult demos.

The gains for The WB are coming from all programs and timeslots Monday thru Friday while Sunday night is tied with year ago results in adults 18-34 & 18-49.

Last night 7TH HEAVEN was #1 in its timeslot in 12-34 women, teens and female teens and continues to be the #1 program season to date in female teens. The resurgence in female teens is mirrored by a 59% year to year gain in women 18-34 and 47% increases in women 18-49 year to year.

ROSWELL, although criticized for not holding onto its 7TH HEAVEN lead-in, is up 100% in adults 18-34 and 46% in adults 18-49 year to year.

With Tuesday & Wednesday being two of the strongest nights on The WB, the three week sweep results should even improve over the 19 days thus far.

Excerpt from Article in Insider.com

Fox leads the sweep among adults 18-34 by a slim 10th of a rating point over NBC (4.2/14 vs. 4.1/13) and by a much more comfortable 42 percent over surprising second-placer the WB in teens (3.7/13 vs. 2.6/9). In that teen category, ABC, NBC, CBS and UPN are all within a 10th of a point of one other (2.2/8-2.3/9) to determine who finishes third through sixth in that demographic.

ROSWELL REINFORCES ITS RENEWAL HOPES: Survival chances improved last night for the WB's Roswell (2.0/5 in 18-49, 2.6/4 in homes), which earned its highest averages among adults 18-34 and persons 12-34 since the show's second episode back on Oct. 13, 1999.

The second-year teen drama also achieved season highs in six key categories -- persons, males and females in both the 12-34 and 18-34 age groups. Roswell further impressed by retaining 100 percent of its female-teen lead-in rating (6.3) from 7th Heaven (2.9/8 in 18-49, 4.3/7 in homes) and 97 percent of its 12-34 lead-in (3.1 vs. 3.2). Roswell was the night's highest-rated series among total teens, improving on its lead-in from 7th Heaven for the first time.

Roswell has performed credibly for the WB throughout this season, but relations between the network and Fox Television have been strained since that studio's Buffy the Vampire Slayer cut its ties with the WB to jump to the rival UPN network. Industry speculation suggests the network will respond by cutting loose Fox Television's Roswell, certainly a more expendable series than Buffy.
