Roswell DVD Music

When the Roswell DVDs were released, the studio felt that using the original
songs from the series would make the DVDs too expensive. So they made the
decision to replace a lot of the songs with ones from mostly unknown bands.

Here is a statement about the music by Jason Katims that was released with season 1 DVDs.

"If you're like me, your first reaction might be outrage. I often fight the assumption that change is good. But, in this case, I was faced with a difficult decision, which was that for budgeting reasons we either had to replace a lot of songs (the license fees are very expensive) or not release the DVD."

"Spurred on by the belief that the fans of the show would choose to have the DVD released, I set out to make the best possible version of the DVD with the resources we had."

"And now, with very few exceptions, I am more excited to watch theese versions of the episodes than the originals. So I suppose that I have to grudingly admit that, change is good. At lease it can be. I hope you agree."

Below is a list of the replacement songs from the Roswell DVDs. We have this list due to the hard work of the people on the Roswell Music threads at Fan Forum. These are all the songs identified, when they were played and what the original song was on the show.
(includes songs that are the same on TV and on DVD)

***Especially toward the end of season three, there are more and more songs that are unknown. If you have additional info, please let me know.***
